This year, Wheels for Wishes invites you to participate in our annual end-of-year car donation event, a critical initiative that helps us support local children in Wyoming. With the IRS tax-year deadline approaching on December 31, time is of the essence. Car donations not only provide a vehicle that can be used for kids in need but also offer the donor substantial tax benefits, making this a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Car donations have a long history in philanthropy, particularly during the holiday season when charitable giving surges. By donating your vehicle, you’re not just giving up a car; you're contributing to a meaningful cause that brings joy and hope to children battling critical illnesses. This event highlights the urgency of making a difference before year-end tax deadlines, maximizing your impact for those in our community.
Why this event matters
This year's end-of-year donation event is pivotal for our charity and the children we support throughout Wyoming. The donations we collect during this period enable us to fund essential services and provide resources to families in need. By participating, you’re not just helping us meet an IRS deadline; you’re uplifting our community and contributing to a brighter future for children who require assistance. Your vehicle could be the key to unlocking hope and opportunities for these children in need.
★Timing-calendar steps
Submit Donation Form • By December 20
To ensure a smooth pickup by the December 31 deadline, please submit your online donation form by December 20. This gives us ample time to schedule your vehicle pickup and guarantees you won't miss out on a tax deduction.
Pickup Scheduling • December 21 - December 28
During this period, our slots begin to fill up quickly. Schedule your pickup as soon as possible to secure your preferred date, especially with the holiday rush creating increased demand for tow operators.
Last-Minute Pickup • December 29 - December 31
If you haven’t scheduled your pickup yet, don't panic! We may have same-day or next-day pickup options available. However, availability is limited, so act fast to ensure your donation is completed before midnight on December 31.
Tax Deduction Documentation • January - February
Once your vehicle is picked up, you will receive IRS Form 1098-C by mail, typically within January or February. This form is crucial for claiming your tax deduction for the donation made in this tax year.
Donor advantage of this timing
Donating your car around this time offers significant advantages. Not only do you help fund vital services for children, but you also receive a valuable tax deduction, which can significantly reduce your taxable income for the year. Vehicles valued over $500 qualify for this deduction, and if your donation is completed before the December 31 cutoff, you will be eligible to claim it on your taxes for this year, maximizing your financial benefits.
